The HDL™ 5.5x is the highest-magnification prismatic loupe in the Orascoptic range. Designed for procedures where the finest level of detail is critical, it delivers 5.5x magnification with an expanded 6.40 cm field of view and the edge-to-edge clarity that defines the entire HDL line. For the surgeon operating under the most demanding conditions.
The HDL™ 5.5x represents the pinnacle of prismatic magnification in the Orascoptic range. With 5.5x magnification, it is specifically designed for procedures where resolving very small anatomical structures is critical: microsurgery, high-precision neurosurgery, complex reconstructive surgery, and advanced ophthalmic procedures.
Despite its high magnification, the expanded field prismatic technology maintains a 6.40 cm field of view — far greater than that of conventional loupes with the same power — allowing the surgeon to maintain spatial orientation without losing the detail required. The anti-reflective coating on the objective lens maximizes light transmission, producing a bright, high-contrast image even in complex lighting conditions.
All optical systems are manufactured with fine-annealed Grade A glass lenses with scratch-resistant and anti-reflective coatings. The carrier lenses are made of high-index polycarbonate. Available in TTL and flip-up versions across all frames in the Orascoptic system, with working distance and declination angle custom configured for each user.
The HDL™ 5.5x in detail: Orascoptic's highest prismatic magnification for procedures where every tenth of a millimeter matters.

The HDL™ 5.5x is the loupe for the surgeon operating at the limits of what human vision can resolve without optical assistance. It is not a first loupe — it is the definitive loupe.
5.5x is the upper limit of the prismatic HDL line. For procedures where no other level of magnification is sufficient: microsurgery, precision neurosurgery, and complex reconstructive surgery.
With a 6.40 cm field width at 5.5x, the HDL™ 5.5x maintains more visual field than would be expected at this magnification, preserving the surgeon's spatial orientation during the procedure.
The anti-reflective coating on the objective lens maximizes light transmission, producing a high-contrast image even in deep surgical fields or under complex lighting conditions.
For procedures that historically required an arm-mounted microscope, the HDL™ 5.5x offers a wearable alternative with greater freedom of movement and without the postural constraints of a fixed microscope.
For the surgeon who already works at 4.5x and finds that certain procedures require even greater resolution, the HDL™ 5.5x is the logical progression within the same frame system and configuration.
With 5.5x magnification and a 6.40 cm field width, the HDL™ 5.5x is the highest-magnification prismatic loupe in the Orascoptic range. Measurements taken at a 45.7 cm working distance.
The specifications provided are approximate and may vary depending on individual factors, such as each user's specific working distance.
